GLBT History Museum: Transmasculine San Francisco | In The Archives

Come visit the GLBT Historical Society’s archives for a collective archival exploration of transmasculine lives, activism, and community building in late-twentieth-century San Francisco and beyond. This is an opportunity to engage with a selection of our archival holdings in a group setting, meet our staff, get familiar with our reading room, and learn to use our digital collections!

Participants will listen in on the first-ever conference about trans men, held in San Francisco in 1995; catch glimpses of San Francisco’s 1990s trans and queer arts scene in the papers of Jordy Jones; witness how transmasculine people forged community through regular meetups and publications like FTM Newsletter and Metamorphosis; and read how FTM International protested the Human Rights Campaign’s exclusion of transgender people from its 1997 mission statement.

And, of course, fans of We Both Laughed in Pleasure can page through Lou Sullivan’s original diaries.
